Woodchucks Fall to 6-4 Against Mallards

MADISON, Wis. – Two runs and 12 runners left on base was cause for a loss Friday night at Warner Park for Wausau.

Madison (17-13/32-21) once again was the team to score first, as a two-run home run in the bottom of the first gave them a lead they would never let up.

The closest Wausau (10-18/30-33) would get was within a run, as two unanswered Woodchuck runs would be followed by the fourth run for Madison. A final score of 4-2 would give Wausau its 18th loss of the second half and third loss in Wisconsin’s capital.

Key Moments:

Tonight’s starting pitcher Peyton Schofield (Marshall) had four nice innings of work on the mound, only allowing three runs (one earned) while picking up five strikeouts.

Mike Adair (Dayton) had two hits once again, making it now back-to-back two-hit games and his fifth since coming back to Wausau July 21.

Up Next:

Wausau will play two in Wisconsin Rapids Saturday, Aug 5 with game one being the resumption of the suspended game July 28 – first pitch will be at 4:05 p.m. Game two will begin as soon as possible after game one concludes and will only be seven innings.
