GAME AT WITTER FIELD CALLED OFF DUE TO RAIN, WILL NOT BE MADE UP

WAUSAU, WI- The Northwoods League announced Friday that the evening’s matchup between the Wausau Woodchucks and the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters was cancelled due to rain at Witter Field. This comes after Wausau’s 7-6 walk-off win against the Rafters on Thursday at Athletic Park.

Since the two teams do not have any other scheduled games against each other in the 2026 season, and there are no more available make-up dates, the game will not be made up, which means the Woodchucks and the Rafters will not meet again in the 2026 season. As a result of this, Wausau takes the season series against Wisconsin Rapids, going 6-5 in 11 games against the Rafters in 2026.

It’s the third different Woodchucks game in the second half that has been cancelled, with no ability for a make-up game. All three such games were scheduled on the road.

WHAT’S NEXT

Wausau stays put at 39-19 on the summer, and is 18-10 in the second half. They remain in second place in the Great Lakes West second half standings, currently 2.5 behind the Lakeshore Chinooks, who won their game tonight against the Royal Oak Leprechauns. That means Wausau no longer has control of its own destiny in the playoff race, but can still make a big push in the final eight games of the summer.

Wausau now returns back home on Saturday to start the biggest two-game set of the season, hosting the Lakeshore Chinooks in a matchup that could determine Wausau’s postseason fate.
