Woodchucks Add Four More to 2016 Roster
Wausau, WIS –The Wisconsin Woodchucks are announcing the addition of four new players to the team for the 2016 season. Connor Brewster and Joey Steele, are both right hand pitchers who attend the University of San Francisco. Jonathan Foster, a catcher/infielder, and Gordon Cardenas, a right handed pitcher, both attend Auburn University.
RHP – Connor Brewster, 6'0", 185 Ibs, (R/R) Freshman, University of San Francisco
Brewster is originally from Reno, Nevada and graduated from Bishop Manogue Catholic High School in 2015. He is a three year letter winner under head coach Charles Oppio and earned the title First Team All-League honors during his senior year. Brewster was also named Second Team All-League as a junior. During his 2016 season at the University of San Francisco he has an ERA of 4.34 and a .273 batting average.
RHP – Joey Steele, 6'2", 195 Ibs, (R/R) Freshman, University of San Francisco
Steele is originally from San Marino, California where he attended St. Francis High School. He played baseball under head coach Aaron Milam at St. Francis High School. Steele was named his team’s Pitcher of the Year. He took a post-grad year at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida before going to the University of San Francisco. During his previous full season, Steele threw 50 innings with a 3.08 ERA.
C/IF – Jonathan Foster, 5'11", 205 Ibs, (R/R) Freshman, Auburn University
Foster is originally from Lagrange, Georgia and attended Troup County High School. He played baseball under head coach Craig Garner and hit .385 as a junior with 7HR and 231 RBIs. Foster played for Chain Baseball Academy of Columbus, Georgia. He earned the title of 2015 Southeast Region Honorable Mention by Perfect Game. Foster was also ranked among the top catchers in the state of Georgia.
RHP – Gordon Cardenas, 5’10”, 194 lbs, (R/R) Junior, Auburn University
Cardenas is originally from Los Angeles, California and attended Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, CA. Cardenas played his freshman season at Hawaii, having 13 appearances and 13 strikeouts. His sophomore year he pitched in 15 games for Fullerton College with a 3.94 ERA. During his 2016 season at Auburn University he threw 17 strikeouts with a 2.35 ERA.
