Heady, Walker, Imperato lead 'Chucks to first win in Kalamazoo

 

Kalamazoo, MI – The Wisconsin Woodchucks (25-29, 12-7 Second Half) topped the Kalamazoo Growlers (29-26, 9-10 Second Half), 9-7, in a slugfest Thursday at Homer Stryker Field in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to win their fifth straight game.

Connor Heady (Kentucky) went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored. Steele Walker (Oklahoma) added a leadoff homer in his 3-for-4 night.

Steve Passatempo (UMass Lowell), Stevie Mangrum (Virginia Tech) and Chad Fleischman (Lamar) also pitched in two hits apiece.

Michael Imperato (Brookdale CC/Lynn) got the win, throwing three scoreless innings of relief while striking out three and allowing just one hit.

Gordon Cardenas (Auburn) collected his 10th save of the season, recording the final five outs in order with a pair of strikeouts.
