Passatempo, Walker set records
Kenosha, WI – The Wisconsin Woodchucks (31-40, 18-18 Second Half) won their final game of 2016 over the Kenosha Kingfish (26-36, 10-26 Second Half), 7-0, Sunday at Simmons Field in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Steele Walker (Oklahoma) had a hit and finished the season with a .406 batting average. That wins the 2016 Northwoods League batting title, and sets a new 'Chucks record — the previous mark had stood since the NWL's inaugural season in 1994. Walker's average also places him third in NWL single-season history. He extended his league-leading on-base streak to 45 games. He will finish with the longest hitting and on-base streaks in the Northwoods League this season.
Steve Passatempo (UMass Lowell) was 3-for-6 with an RBI, his team-leading 61st of the year, which tied the Woodchucks' franchise record. He also appeared in his 71st game of the year, which set a new franchise single-season record.
Scott Parker (San Francisco) threw the first 'Chucks complete game shutout of the season. He gave up only five hits and no runs while striking out five and walking just one.
