The Battle Creek Battle Jacks are looking for qualified, customer service-oriented, and outgoing individuals to work concessions during the 2024 baseball season. Each summer, the Battle Jacks employ part-time concessions staffers for various roles around the ballpark. Below is a list of concession positions along with a short description of the duties and responsibilities pertinent to each role.

Interviews will be held during the spring, with the exact dates to be determined at a later time.

    Concessions OverviewConcessions employees hold various roles throughout the ballpark in food and beverage areas. Employees must provide excellent customer service, display an understanding of food and beverage options within a designated area, and follow closely, the health and sanitation guidelines set forth by the Battle Creek Battle Jacks.

    The Battle Jacks are currently accepting applications for the following positions for the 2023 season:

    Waiter/WaitressWaiters and Waitresses provide service to the Home Plate Club guests, including but not limited to; preparing tables prior to gates opening, taking food orders, serving food and beverage to 5 to 6 tables of 4 guests. Maintaining area cleanliness, and providing a positive experience for all Home Plate Club guests. Must have the ability to carry large trays of food and beverage from grill area, up ramps to the Home Plate Club tables. Servers must be at least 18 years of age, and have an outgoing personality.

    Cashier – Cashiers are the face of the Battle Jacks food and beverage experience. They are expected to greet and accommodate customers with a positive attitude and a smile. Cashiers are responsible for managing cash and credit transactions at each of our concessions areas while processing accurate and timely concessions orders. Interested candidates should have a positive attitude, outgoing personality and work well in group settings. Previous cash handling experience is required.

    Grill Cook – Responsible for ensuring Battle Jacks fans receive the freshest food possible in a timely manner. Grillers will follow specific food preparation and sanitation guidelines designed to create a consistently quality product. Interested candidates should have experience in a kitchen environment, and be able to work in a fast paced, hot environment.

    Food Runner/Wrapper/Fountain Soda – Runners and wrappers serve as liaisons between the Grillers and Cashiers to fill the customer’s order. Their focus is on efficiently receiving the customer’s order from the cashier and working with the grillers to produce the products that they need to complete the order. Runners and Wrappers are accessible to customers and should be helpful and responsive to their wants, needs, and concerns. Fountain Soda pourers are responsible for making sure that there is always enough soda ready to go as soon as someone orders it. This is crucial to keeping concession stand lines at a minimum and is a perfect job for someone just starting out and has little to no experience! Lastly, Runners, Wrappers, and Fountain Soda pourers will have a role assisting the concessions managers and grillers to include washing dishes, post game concessions cleanup, and food wrapping. Interested candidates should have a positive attitude and work well in a fast paced group setting.

    Draft Beer AttendantThere are multiple locations throughout the ballpark where draft beer is served. To be eligible for this positon, pourers must be at least 18 years of age, have an outgoing personality, positive attitude, and always have a smile on their face. Previous cash handling, and beer pouring experience is preferred. All applicants must have proof that they have been T.I.P.S. certified to serve alcohol in the State of Michigan.

    Gate Attendants – Greeting guests in a friendly manner as they enter the ballpark, checking bags upon entry, monitoring for any prohibited items, taking tickets, passing out flyers and other promotional giveaway items, keeping entrance area tidy, and stamping guests for re-entry as needed.

    Disclaimer For All Gameday PositionsThe Battle Creek Battle Jacks are an Equal Opportunity Employer and all applicants will receive equal consideration for employment. Most positions require standing for extended periods of time in a high paced and outdoor summer environment with little to no air conditioning. Applicants should be able to lift upwards of 30lbs by themselves, stand for an extended period of time, and be able to operate in a crowded, fast-paced environment.
