Brief but good news to report today. Pittsburgh Pirates C Jason Jaramillo (St. Cloud, ’02) has earned the backup catching job behind Ryan Doumit. This opportunity will allow Jaramillo to make his Major League debut next week.
The switch-hitting Jaramillo is in his first year with the Pirates after being traded from the in state rival Phillies in December for catcher Ronny Paulino.
Jaramillo hit .179 in 39 at-bats this spring.
