(Thunder Bay, Canada) The Thunder Bay Border Cats announced today the signing of four players for the 2010 season. Joining the two-time NWL Champions are second baseman
Evan Mistich, (Miss-titch), outfielder Jay Laurienzo, and pitchers Matt White and Freddy Lewis.

Mistich, a 6’0″, 190 pound sophomore at Panola Junior College in Carthage, TX, has played in 47 games for the Ponies this season and is batting .338. The Houma, LA native leads the team with 10 home runs and 46 runs batted in.

Laurienzo plays his collegiate ball in Fort Myers, FL at Florida Gulf Coast University. The 6’0, 190 pounder from Tampa, FL has played in only 9 games for the Eagles and is hitting .143 with one home runs and two RBI’s.

White is a junior at Rollins College in Orlando, FL, where he is a teammate of Border Cats pitcher Garrett Yount. The 6’4″, 235 pound lefthander has appeared in six games and has an 0-0 record with a 3.86 earned run average. White, from Bellingham, MA has made one start for Rollins this season.

Lewis is a 6’2″, 210 pound left-hander from Gainesville, FL. He is currently a junior at Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, TN. In 13 games for the Bulldogs this spring, Lewis is 2-4 with a 4.39 ERA.

The Border Cats open the 2010 Northwoods League season at Port Arthur Stadium on June 2, at 6:35 p.m. against the Duluth Huskies.
