This season, every home run hit by a Rafters player at Witter Field meant a bit more than just tacking another run on the scoreboard. Thanks to West Bend Mutual Insurance, a charitable contribution was made every time a Rafters player circled the bases at historic Witter Field.

West Bend Mutual Insurance donated $50 for every Rafters home run hit at Witter Field during the inaugural season. The Rafters ended up with a total of ten home runs, equaling $500, but West Bend Mutual went above and beyond and contributed a generous gift of $1,000 for the benefit of Opportunity Development Centers, Inc. Lester & Smart Insurance also added an additional $500 contribution for the cause.

“Rafters Baseball provided the Wisconsin Rapids community with fantastic entertainment this summer for families and the sports enthusiast. ODC, a not for profit employer, has benefitted from this inaugural season experience through the efforts of the Rafters players and the financial support from West Bend Mutual Insurance Company and our agency. Lester, Smart, Fehrman, Treml, & Arendt are proud to represent this excellent community-minded insurance carrier,” said Joe Treml of Lester & Smart Insurance. “We look forward to the 2011 season when Rafters home runs once again generate excitement from the fans and produce funds for ODC.”
