Dale Varsho Sits Down With WQOW

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (May 16, 2012) — Two weeks prior to Opening Day for the Eau Claire Express, manager Dale Varsho sat down with WQOW News 18 sports director Bob Bradovich to talk about the 2012 Northwoods League season.

Varsho’s been the team’s only manager over the franchise’s first seven seasons, and says the word is out that the NWL is a great league, and that Eau Claire’s one of the best places to play.

The Express has continued to work with some of the same college baseball programs that helped supply the 2010 roster that went on to win the NWL title, but some other programs, like Rice, Wichita State and Indiana State will help fill the 2012 Express roster.

Varsho says fans at Carson Park this season will be treated to four different Bobble-Head Nights, a popular promotion at all levels of baseball.

Varsho enters his eighth season with the third most regular season wins in Northwoods League history with 252 and tied for third most postseason wins with six. Varsho’s regular season record as manager is 252-227 (.526). Varsho also managed the 2010 Northwoods League South All-Star team.

The Express opens their 2012 season on Wednesday, May 30, when the Wisconsin Woodchucks visit Carson Park.
