Northwoods League President Dick Radatz, Jr., joined 620 WTMJ Radio in Milwaukee Thursday night, July 17, to preview the upcoming events of the annual Northwoods League All-Star Game, to be held July 21-22 in Mequon, Wis. Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig is the featured speaker at the All-Star Banquet July 21 at the Ozaukee County Fair Grounds in the Columbia St. Mary’s Medical Center. The all-star teams will be introduced by the Honorary Managers, Jim Gantner (North) and Robin Yount (South). Tickets for the banquet are $60 per person and can be purchased by calling the Lakeshore Chinooks offices at 262-618-4659.
On game day (July 22), the gates at Kapco Park open at 3:30 p.m. Players will rotate through the VIP Photography Autograph Zone until 5:30 p.m. The Home Run Challenge will begin at 4:45 p.m. and will feature a unique format where nine players from each division will represent the North and South teams. Each player will receive six outs in his team’s half of the inning, and a nine-inning competition will take place. The team with the most home runs hit after the nine-inning exhibition will be declared the winner.
The 2014 Northwoods League All-Star Game presented by Fiduciary Management, Inc., will be begin at 6:45 p.m. CDT. Mankato and Waterloo lead the North Division team with five selections each, while the defending Summer Collegiate World Series Champion Madison Mallards have a league-high six players on the South Division team.
