Thunder Bay's Grant McKown had a opening night he will not soon forget. McKown, a sophomore from Florida Tech, walked up to the plate in the first inning with the bases loaded, locked in, and slugged a souvenir over the wall for a grand slam, his first home run of the season. Later in the contest, he would add an RBI triple and a single to his already impressive night, falling a double short of the cycle. He finished the game 3-for-4 with 5 RBIs, pacing Thunder Bay to a 7-0 victory over the Eau Claire Express.
The Border Cats face off against Eau Claire for the second game of the season at Port Arthur Stadium at 11:05 AM.
