Thursday’s Northwoods League slate featured two doubleheaders: the La Crosse Steam and the Minot Honeybees and the Madison Night Mares and The Mankato Habaneros.
Madison 7, Mankato 2
The Madison Night Mares take game one beating the Mankato Habaneros 7-2. Lexie Shaver (Salt Lake Community College) went 2-for-3 scoring twice with a solo home run, an RBI triple, and one stolen base. Hilary Blomberg (University of Wisconsin-Madison) went 2-for-4 scoring once with a pair of doubles and three RBI. Paige Zender (Iowa State University) went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Karlie Mckenzie (Eastern Illinois University) earned the win throwing six innings with five strikeouts allowing six hits, two runs, and two walks.
Minot 7, La Crosse 3
The Minot Honeybees used a four-run sixth inning to defeat the La Crosse Steam 7-3. Abbie Stigler (Saint Mary”s University) went 2-for-4 scoring once with three RBI. Skyler Dietz (Colorado Christian University) went 2-for-3 scoring once with a pair of doubles. Sydney Farmer (Tyler Junior College) went 2-for-4 scoring twice with one RBI. Avary Makarewicz (Eastern Illinois University) went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases. Jake Albrecht (University of North Dakota) earned the win throwing 1.1 scoreless innings with one strikeout allowing one walk and one hit.
Mankato 8, Madison 6
The Mankato Habaneros scored six runs in the sixth to take down the Madison Night Mares 8-6. Paige Zender (Iowa State University) went 2-for-4 with a grand slam. Sailor Hall (Kirkwood Community College) went 3-for-4 scoring once with two RBI. Emma Lee (Trine University) was perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 scoring once with two RBI. Addie Blomberg (South Dakota State University) went 3-for-4 scoring twice with one RBI and one stolen base. Chloe Wamboldt (Rock Valley College) went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one stolen base. Jayme Scheck (Drake University) earned the win throwing 3.1 innings with three strikeouts allowing three hits, one run, and zero walks.
La Crosse 7, Minot 6
The La Crosse Steam took down the Minot Honeybees in game two beating them 7-6. Lindsey Shultz (Grinnell College) went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run. Teagan Graul (Paris Junior College) went 2-for-3 scoring twice with one RBI. Ashley Wolfe (Transfer Portal) went 1-for-4 scoring once with a double and one RBI. Skyler Dietz (Colorado Christian University) went 3-for-4 scoring once with a double and one stolen base. Sydney Schott (Spalding University) earned the win throwing three scoreless innings allowing one hit and zero walks.
