O’Grady’s Ignites Lunkers Again

Brainerd's Dennis O'Grady (Duke) finished 3-for-4 on the night with two singles, a double, a walk, three runs scored, and 2 RBI. O'Grady knocked a two-run double off the left field wall in the 6th inning to put the Lunkers up for good as they went on to defeat Duluth 9-5. O'Grady has now been named the Player of the Night twice while also earning three Pitcher of the Night awards.

Talley Wins Duel Of All-Stars

Bombers starter Matt Talley (The Citadel) scattered six hits and three walks over seven innings, allowing only one run and picking up his team-leading sixth win. He outdueled fellow South Division All-Star pitcher Steven Gruver (Tennessee). Battle Creek completed the two-game sweep of La Crosse, 4-1.

Parque Drills First Homerun, Four Hits

Listed at a generous 5'9", Jimmy Parque (St. John's) has filled in nicely at the top of the order for Manager CJ Thieleke's club. Parque went 4-5 Monday, including his first home run of the season and now has eight hits in his last three games.

Brown Keeps Beetles Alive In North Division Race

It was a must-win game for the Beetles, as Nick Brown (Iowa) turned in a sparkling performance. He threw seven innings and allowed two earned runs while striking out four and walking none. His only mistake was a two run homerun to Cody Fick (Evansville).

Green Bay defeated Waterloo and Wisconsin defeated Eau Claire (pictured) in the only two games on the schedule Sunday in the NWL.

The Rochester Honkers announced that left handed pitcher Jay Johnson (Prairie Baseball Academy) has agreed to terms on a professional contract with the Baltimore Orioles.

House Homer Leads Bullfrogs

After a single and a walk, Jacob House (Arkansas) belted his third home run of the season in the first inning to give Green Bay a 3-0 lead. The Bullfrogs went on to defeat Waterloo 8-4. House finished 1-2 with two runs scored and four RBI.

Drobnick Earns Save In Woodchucks Victory

Anthony Drobnick (Washington State) picked up his fourth save of the season after throwing two scoreless innings. Drobnick did not allow a hit, walked one and struck out one in the Woodchucks victory over Eau Claire. This is Drobnick's second Pitcher of the Night Award (July 19).

Nine games were played Saturday night across the NWL. Eight strong innings by Thunder Bay starter Tyler Powell (pictured) were wasted when Mankato scored six runs in the top of the ninth.
