Kokomo clinches best record in the Great Lakes East, home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs

The Kokomo Jackrabbits defeated the Kalamazoo Growlers 6-2 on Friday night, clinching the top record in the Great Lakes East and home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

The Jackrabbits, who on Thursday clinched the Great Lakes East second-half title, moved their season record to 45-26. They’ll face the Traverse City Pit Spitters, who secured a playoff spot in the first half of the season.

Since the Jackrabbits clinched home-field advantage in the first round, the series schedule is now set. At least one and possibly two games in the best-of-three series will be held at Kokomo Municipal Stadium:

Game 1, Sunday, August 15, time TBD: Jackrabbits vs. Pit Spitters in Traverse City
Game 2, Monday, August 16 at 6:30 PM: Pit Spitters vs. Jackrabbits in Kokomo
Game 3, Tuesday, August 17 at 6:30 PM: Pit Spitters vs. Jackrabbits in Kokomo (if necessary)

Tickets for Monday’s game are on sale through the team’s website at https://bit.ly/JackrabbitsPlayoff1.

The winner of the series will advance to the Great Lakes Divisional Championship Game, likely to be held on Wednesday. The division winner will take on the Great Plains Division champion in the Northwoods League Championship Game. Depending on travel needs, the league title game may take place on Thursday or Friday, August 19 or 20.

The team with the better record is the host for the division and league championship games, so the Jackrabbits may host additional games if they advance in the playoffs.
