The Kokomo Jackrabbits Baseball Team are currently seeking students in need of internship opportunities for the summer at Kokomo Municipal Stadium in Kokomo, IN. This internship promises to offer a little bit of everything for the student who is serious about pursuing a career in sports.

OPERATIONS & MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIP

Operations interns will participate in a wide range of activities that give you a glimpse of what it takes to run a sports franchise. You will be a part of sales, tickets, concessions, hospitality, game operations, ballpark operations, and community outreach efforts. Interns will have supervisory and training responsibilities that provide hands-on experience. You will also take part in ongoing sales, public relations, and community outreach efforts during the season. Such tasks will include:

  • Ballpark and field maintenance including pre-game and post-game stadium walk-thru to ensure ballpark is game-day ready.
  • Assist in Community & Sales initiatives for the team including calls, community outreach events and team-hosted events.
  • Pre-season stadium set-up to include hanging banners, assembling and arranging seating, general stadium cleaning, clubhouse preparations, Press Box components in place, and other duties as needed.
  • Take part in the execution of all pre-game, between inning, and post-game promotions to include assisting with props, getting contestants on and off the field, helping with player participation, hyping up the crowd; assisting other departments with activation of these promotions.
  • Distribute giveaways to fans on promotional nights at the front entry gates. Ensure giveaways are in place and ready to go for gates open.
  • Meet and assist with on-field participants, ceremonial first pitches and any other pre-game ceremonies.
  • Welcome and attend to families celebrating their birthdays at the game. Accompany the party to any other experiences included with their outing.
  • Pre-season stadium set-up to include hanging banners, assembling and arranging seating, general stadium cleaning, clubhouse preparations, Press Box components in place, and other duties as needed.
  • Assist with the management of the ticket taking area at the stadium each night, responsible for the appearance of the entry area, greet fans as they enter and exit, help with any customer needs.
  • Work in the Box Office at the stadium assisting patrons as they arrive to pick up their tickets for the game, troubleshooting any issues as they arise with the customer’s tickets and learning the ins-and-outs of our Ticketing System.
  • Assist in the management of the Fan Relations Booth at the stadium on game nights to include assisting fans with any questions they may have, handling redemption vouchers, directing fans throughout the stadium, radioing other departments with any needs that may arise, providing instruction for patrons reporting to the booth with emergency situations (First Aid, missing children, etc.), checking in the EMT’s for the game.
  • Assist in the presentation of pre- and post-game set-up for Home & Away teams, include setting up, maintaining, and cleaning up afterwards; respond to player and coaches needs as they arise.

SOCIAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP

The social media internship includes:

  •  Help manage the team’s entire social media presence.
  • Cultivate fans on outlets like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • Develop content for all social media outlets.
  • Help create promotions and campaigns to increase the team’s social media following.
  • Assist in other media and PR efforts, such as writing and website updates.
  • Join a staff with a history of sending grads to full-time jobs in the industry.
 his is a great chance to get hands-on experience in the exploding field of social media in sports. You will help manage the day-to-day activities for all of the team’s social media sites, from the existing Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts to potential endeavors on other outlets. Your role will be to work with our marketing agency to plan and post content in keeping with the organization’s message while cultivating our fan base online. You will develop compelling content and promotions to drive traffic and ultimately bring more fans to the ballpark.

 

Interns must be committed to working long hours including nights, weekends, and occasionally holidays. All internship positions will include event day duties and some non-game day events as well. 

  • Credit for current enrollment in college courses is available if needed
  • Intern should display professionalism – businesslike attitude, attire, cheerful disposition, teamwork, and honesty/discretion/trust/judgment.
  • Communication skills – strong oral and written communication skills and an ability to positively interact with all patrons attending events at the stadium and other venues.
  • Dependability – available for early morning/late evening/weekend work – commitment to working nights/weekends.
  • High energy, enthusiastic individual with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • The internship runs from May – August (pending post-season play and each individual’s school schedule).
  • All interns will receive a taxable, $100 per month of the internship.
  • Please Note: INTERNS ARE EXPECTED TO WORK THE ENTIRE SEASON HOME REGULAR SEASON UNLESS NOTING TO THE FRONT OFFICE PRIOR TO BEING HIRED.
