Steam Adds Returner to Roster

Another Returner Joins the Steam for 2025

LA CROSSE, WI – The La Crosse Steam is celebrating opening week of collegiate softball with the announcement of another returner for the 2025 season. Ashlee Chantos will follow her junior year softball season at Winona State University with another summer of softball at Copeland Park.

Chantos was a standout outfielder in 2024, earning the NWL Rawlings “Finest in the Field” Award. The St. Charles, Illinois native led the team with a 1.00 FPCT, 59 POs, and 63 TCs. Her experience and commitment to protecting the outfield will be happily welcomed back.

Leveraging the 31-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) will be the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024.  The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play.  Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.
