Steam Adds Pitching Pair to Roster

Elly Eckrich and Madyson Schultz for 2025

Eckrich, a University of Tennessee Martin junior, is in her first season with the Skyhawks. For her freshman and sophomore years, Eckrich attended Three Rivers Community College. During her time at TRCC, Eckrich recorded 63 strikeouts and started in 24 games as a freshman. The Hillsboro, MO native also was named to the Missouri High School Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Class 4A All-State First Team while attending Hillsboro High School.

Schultz, a Viterbo University freshman, will be continuing her stay in La Crosse for the 2025 season. The Black River Falls, WI native started at Viterbo following an impressive pitching career at Black River Falls High School where she earned two First Team All-Conference awards and one Conference Player of the Year Award. For the Viterbo V-Hawks, Schultz has pitched in 12 games and started in 7.

Leveraging the 31-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) will be the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024.  The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play.  Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.
