Winona State Commit Joins the Steam Ahead of Collegiate Career

High School Standout Comes to La Crosse In Preparation for Career with the Warriors

LA CROSSE, WIS.– With the WIAA softball season just around the corner, the La Crosse Steam are excited to announce the next signing to their roster:  high school senior, Josie Brudos.

A dynamic two-way player, Brudos will bring her talents to the Steam this summer before beginning her collegiate career at Winona State in the fall. The West Salem, Wisconsin native has put together a decorated high school résumé, earning three All-Conference and All-District selections while twice being named the Coulee Conference Pitcher of the Year.

Brudos has been just as dominant statistically as she has been decorated. She eclipsed the 500-career strikeout mark in the circle, while also surpassing 100 career hits at the plate. Her ability to impact the game both as a pitcher and an outfielder highlights her versatility and knowledge of the game.

Now set to face collegiate-level talent with the Steam, Brudos will look to sharpen her skills and continue her development against some of the top players in summer softball before officially beginning her journey with the Warriors.

Copeland Park is calling! The Steam begin their 2026 campaign on Wednesday, June 10 at home, welcoming the Mankato Habaneros to La Crosse for Opening Night. Season tickets, group outings, and flexible ticket packages are on sale now. Fans can lock in their seats by visiting lacrossesteam.com or calling the Steam ticket office at (608) 796-9553. The Steam front office is located at 1225 Caledonia Street in La Crosse and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
