Chinooks outfielder Eric Aguilera has been given Rawling’s annual “Big Stick” award for his high batting average. The award has been given out to the player at each position who had the best batting average during the 2012 season. To be eligible for the award, a player needs enough plate appearances to qualify for a batting title.
Aguilera ended up with a .369 batting average before falling victim of a season ending injury shortly after the Northwoods League All-Star Game. Other recipients of the annual award were C Paul Karmeris (Duluth), 1B Michael Suchy (Willmar), 2B Tanner Vavra (Alexandria), 3B Brendon Hayden (Wisconsin), Brett Kay (Thunder Bay), OF James Ramsey (Duluth), OF Justin Parr (Rochester).
The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in North America.
