This past week, the Lakeshore Chinooks announced their 2014 Team Awards. Like past years, there are four different awards: The Robin Yount Award, The Kapco Steel Slugger Award, Pitcher of the Year, and Most Valuable Player.

The first award is the Robin Yount Award. Yount was known throughout his career for playing the game with hustle, passion, determination, and professionalism as well as being a gentleman off the field. Each year, a player from the Chinooks that exemplifies these qualities is selected to receive The Robin Yount Award.

The Chinooks are proud to name Ryan Krill (Michigan State) as this year's Robin Yount Award winner. Krill has been part of Lakeshore’s roster since the team's inaugural season in 2012. Krill's leadership and dedication to the team for the past three years made him the clear choice for the award.

The Kapco Steel Slugger Award is given to the player who finishes the season with the highest batting average on the team.

Batting .316 this season was second baseman Jake Noll (Florida Gulf Coast). Noll's consistent bat was instrumental in the team's success this season. He racked up 72 hits, including four homers and 35 RBIs.

With a league-leading team ERA of 2.92, it’s hard to single out just one pitcher. This season, the Chinooks are giving the Pitcher(s) of the Year to two very deserving individuals: Shaun Anderson and Jake Tuttle.

Anderson (Florida) finished the regular season with a 5-1 record and an era of 2.40 with 43 strikeouts to just eight walks. He was lights out in his start against the Woodchucks in the playoffs, throwing eight and two-thirds innings in which he gave up just one run and struck out five.

Tuttle (UW-Milwaukee) was unstoppable in relief this season. Through 26 innings of work in the regular season, he struck out 27 batters, walked 11 and didn’t give up a single run. He also pitched three shutout innings and picked up the save in the Championship-clinching Game Two of the Summer Collegiate World Series.

The Most Valuable Player award is given to the player who most contributed to the success of the team throughout the season. This year's Most Valuable Player is outfielder Brett Siddall.

Siddall (Canisius College) made significant contributions both at the plate and in the outfield en route to the Chinooks’ Northwoods League Championship. He batted .313 on the season and led the team in RBIs (43) and HRs (9). He was also a South Division All-Star and captured the individual title in the Home Run Challenge. His perfect fielding percentage earned him a Rawlings Finest in the Field Award and he was named to the NWL Postseason All-Star Team.

All of the Chinooks’ Team Award Winners will be invited to accept their awards  in person during a pregame ceremony on Opening Night 2015.
