Grafton, WI- Former Chinooks player Zack Granite was called up to the Major Leagues by the Minnesota Twins late Friday night. Granite becomes the first Lakeshore alumni to break into the MLB.

Granite was part of the Chinooks inaugural roster back in 2012 while he attended Seton Hall. The Staten Island native played in 25 games for the Chinooks ending his season with a .285 batting average including 22 hits, 23 runs, and 16 stolen bases. Zack was most known for his stellar defense in the outfield as well as his outstanding base running.

He would go on to be drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 2013 in the 14th round. To kickoff his minor league career, Granite appeared in 61 games for the Elizabethton Twins, a rookie ball team in the Appalachian League.The following year, he would be promoted to Single A with the Cedar Rapids Kernels of the Midwest League.

Zack would continue to climb the Minor League ladder in 2015 with a promote to high Single A ball with the Fort Myers Miracle making an appearance in 125 games. He would finish 2015 back with the Kernels.

Once again, Granite was promoted, this time to the Twin's Double A team, the Chattanooga Lookouts where he would spend all of 2016.

After a very brief stint with the Miracle to start this year, Granite was promoted to Triple A with the Rochester Red Wings. Zack has been on a tear ever since batting .360 with an OPS of .904 in 59 games so far this season. He hit over .470 in the month of June earning him Player of the Month for the International League.

The Chinooks would like to wish Zack the best of luck and look forward to watching his career begin with the Minnesota Twins. Granite will return to Wisconsin when the Twins meet the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park on August 9th and 10th.
