Grafton, WI – Recently, the Chinooks announced their Top 10 Moments of 2018. Here is a recap of those memorable moments that made up this year’s list:

Honorable Mention #1: Buis Walk Off
At the June 29th game against Wisconsin Rapids, Turner Buis hit a walk-off single to help the Chinooks take the win against the Rafters.

Honorable Mention #2: Vintage Jersey Auction
The Chinooks roster sported early 1900’s caps and jerseys that were auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity – Ozaukee. Over $4,500 was raised from the event. Special thanks to James P Meyer – Thrivent Financial for sponsoring our annual jersey auction.

Honorable Mention #3: Hanhold’s MLB Debut
Our first alumni pitcher to make it to the MLB. Eric Hanhold, from the 2013 roster, was called up by the New York Mets for the last month of the season.

Honorable Mention #4: 15 Chinooks Selected in MLB Draft
15 Chinooks players, past and present, had their names called at MLB’s annual draft.

Honorable Mention #5: Tibor’s Complete Game Shutout
Kevin Tibor pitched a complete game shutout on July 9th against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.

#10: Cole Turney Walk Off
Cole Turney ended opening weekend with a walk-off home run against the Rockford Rivets.

#9: The Miracle Minute
On August 6th as part of our First Responders Night, the Chinooks organized a Miracle Minute where our fans raised over $1,200 for the Officer Mike Michalski Memorial Fund.

#8: July Hot Streak
Lakeshore went on a 9 game win streak from July 1st to July 9th.

#7: Looney Drafted & Finished Game
Chinooks pitcher Layne Looney who was drafted during the June 6th game by the Chicago Cubs, would come in the 9th inning and close out the game.

#6: The Marriage Proposal
Our first ever player marriage proposal. Starting pitcher Kevin Tibor decided to pop the big question to his girlfriend prior to the last game of the season.

#5: 2018 PWSB Sponsorship
Port Washington State Bank was announced last January as the presenting sponsor of 2018 season. They have been a great partner of Chinooks baseball since 2012.

#4: Robin Yount HD Bobblehead
On July 8th, over 2,000 fans rode into Kapco Park with the hopes of scoring the bobble of our owner and Brewers legend on a Harley Davidson!

#3: Chinooks Cancer Walk
This past June, Lakeshore partnered with the Aurora Health Care Foundation to host the first cancer walk at Kapco Park. The event drew over 250 walkers and raised more than $25,000. The Chinooks walk team consisted of more than 50 individuals who helped raised $5,000.

#2: 300,000th Fan
On June 12th, our 300,000th fan passed thru the gates at Kapco Park.

#1: Jack Dunn All-Star Game MVP
Dunn hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 8th inning to help secure a win for the South Division. It was the first time in franchise history a Chinooks player won ASG MVP.

A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, 200 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist (CHC) and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (BOS), Jordan Zimmermann (DET) and Curtis Granderson (TOR).
