In their final road game of the season, the Lakeshore Chinooks (13-23) fell to the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (16-20) 8-7 Friday night at Herr-Baker Field, finishing with a 10-26 record on the road. 

The Chinooks struck first in the top of the fourth inning. Sam Vomhof sparked its offense by ripping a one-out double into center field. Jacob Nelson reached on an error, putting runners on the corners. 

Jimmy Juergensen then cleared the bases with a double to center field, putting Lakeshore ahead 2-0. In his first game since July 30th, Gabe Roessler singled to put runners on first and third for the Chinooks. 

Roessler then stole second base to put runners on second and third. Drew Townsend’s sacrifice fly moved Roessler over to third and put Lakeshore in front 3-0. Jack Counsell capped off the four-run frame with an RBI single up the middle. 

In the bottom of the fifth, Fond du Lac got one run back. Lakeshore starter Grant Ross hit a batter and gave up two consecutive singles to load the bases with no outs. Adam Cootway then saved a run by catching a pop-fly in right field and throwing out the runner racing home. 

With runners on first and third, the Dock Spiders scored one run on a balk making the score 4-1 heading into the sixth inning. 

Fond du Lac tied the game up in the bottom of the sixth. After one quick out, Lakeshore reliever Larry Gallo walked back-to-back batters. A fielding error loaded the bases in favor of the Dock Spiders. 

Gallo then walked another batter which allowed Fond du Lac to score its second run of the night. Connor Cooney then singled to right field, bringing in two runs and tying the game up 4-4 heading into the seventh inning. 

It wasn’t long until Lakeshore retook the lead. In the top of the seventh, Will Johannes drew a two-out walk to kickstart the offense.  Carsen Hansen then hit a triple down the right field line to bring home Johannes and give the Chinooks a 5-4 lead.

Sam Vomhof gave his team an insurance run with a RBI single, putting the Chinooks ahead 6-4 heading into the bottom of the inning. 

The Dock Spiders retook the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Lakeshore reliever DJ Kojis gave up a walk and a single to put runners on first and second to start the inning. After a quick out, Kojis hit a batter to load the bases in favor of Fond du Lac. 

After striking out one batter, Kojis then walked the next three batters to bring in three runs for the Dock Spiders, giving them a 7-6 lead heading into the eighth inning. 

With one final chance in the top of the ninth, Will Johannes hit a one-out solo home run over the right field fence to tie the game up 7-7.  

However, the Dock Spiders were able to battle back in the bottom of the ninth. After getting one quick out, Parker Knoll was hit by a pitch and advanced to second base after a strikeout.

Lorenzo Rios then called game by hitting a two-out single to right field that drove in Knoll from second base.

Fond du Lac outhit Lakeshore 12-10 on the night. Vomhof led the way for the Chinooks, going 3-for-5 with one RBI. Juergensen also went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs.  

The Chinooks will finish out their season tomorrow at home facing off against the Dock Spiders once more. First pitch from Moonlight Graham Field is set for 6:35 p.m. CST.
