Rylie Snodgrass’ Journey

In the fall of 2021 at the age of 3, Rylie was diagnosed with an ependymoma tumor, a rare tumor found in the brain and spine. In the days that followed the discovery of the tennis ball size tumor, she had a nearly twelve hour surgery to fully remove the tumor. Shortly after, a second surgery was needed followed by three months of radiation therapy.

Since then, Rylie has unfortunately had two reoccurrences, one as recent as this past January. She has needed two additional surgeries to remove the tumors, eighteen months of chemotherapy and this past spring finished up her second round of radiation therapy.

Through all her battles, Rylie has stayed strong and resilient. She doesn’t let her challenges slow her down as she continues to play softball, soccer, and basketball while also exceling in the classroom. She loves to read, build Legos, and attend sporting events with her family.

But her greatest attribute is her heart. Despite all her trials and tribulations, Rylie wants to pay it forward to other kids and families in similar battles. She has participated in multiple cancer walks and the past two holiday seasons hosted her own toy drive, Rylie’s Toys for Joy, which has collected over 750 toys and donated to Make-A-Wish Wisconsin and the MACC Fund Clinic at Children’s Wisconsin.

Rylie is very excited to partner with Aurora Health Care and one of her favorite teams, the Lakeshore Chinooks for this year’s bat auction.
