The Hot Tots are continuing their mission to break their fifteen-game losing skid to the St. Cloud Rox tonight. They fell last night, 7-2.
Errors plagued Minot as they allowed multiple Rox baserunners to move freely on the basepaths. All five errors occurred on pickoff plays in critical moments of the game. Still, the plan remains the same for the Hot Tots. Barring the five errors, that game had a similar start to what Minot was looking to replicate, hanging around, down 3-2 after five innings. Matt Toomey showed some power, driving in a run in the fourth on a triple. Jacob Pearl also had an RBI and reached base three times in his five plate appearances.
Today’s plan remains similar for Minot. The team will aim to stay aggressive on the basepaths, utilizing hit-and-run plays and steals. Coach Brian Lewis said in an interview today that the biggest key to beating a good team like St. Cloud is keeping the errors to a minimum.
The Hot Tots and Rox face off tonight at 6:35 for Touch a Truck Night at Corbett Field. Come to experience an exciting night in person or tune into the broadcast on Northwoods League+.
