The Minot Hot Tots are back at Corbett Field for three games over two days against the Duluth Huskies. The Tots and Huskies faced off earlier this season in Duluth. The Huskies defended their home field for two games, grabbing wins by scores of 11-3 and 5-4. In game two, the Tots took the lead in the fourth inning but gave it away, allowing three runs in the bottom of the ninth. The game ended on a walk-off walk.
With a 5.75 team ERA, the Huskies are in the middle of the pack in the Northwoods League. In a conversation with Hot Tots’ hitting coach, O’Neill Burgos, he discussed how Minot was looking to attack Duluth’s pitching. The Hot Tots are looking to be disciplined at the plate and continue to have quality at-bats. Minot has shown that they are capable of scoring runs, Burgos just says that they need to find hits in clutch moments.
To do this, Burgos once again put it simply; take advantage of pitches in the zone. He is encouraging his players to await their pitch at the plate by leaving pitches out of the zone and putting barrels on the ones that are in.
The Hot Tots and Huskies are facing off at Corbett Field tonight at 6:35. Come to the ballpark or tune in on Northwoods League+.
