Imagine sitting down to watch a Major League Baseball game and recognizing a player who once lived in your home for a summer. That could be you. Each season, talented college baseball players from all over the country travel to Richmond to chase their dreams, and you have the chance to be a meaningful part of their journey.

Becoming a Host Family is one of the most rewarding experiences our organization offers. By opening your home, you provide a comfortable place for a young athlete to live during the season and you become part of their support system in a new city. Over the years in the Northwoods League, families have formed lifelong friendships with their players, staying in touch long after the season ends and even celebrating weddings, graduations, and holidays together.

Kids in host families often gain a role model and baseball mentor. Many players love to share tips, play catch, and build real relationships with the families who welcome them in. For adults, it is a chance to meet new people, learn about different parts of the country, and feel fully connected to the team.

You might even end up hosting a future MLB star. Hundreds of Northwoods League alumni have gone on to play in the majors and many more have reached the minor leagues. You never know who might be sleeping in your guest room this summer.

Most players arrive around Memorial Day and stay through mid August. Host families provide a bedroom, a few meals, and a supportive environment. In return, you get an unforgettable summer filled with baseball, memories, and a new extended family.
