RICHMOND, Ind. — The Richmond Flying Mummies (9-8) are on the hunt for a third straight win Friday evening following a lengthy, 12-inning walk-off victory in yet another matchup with the Rockford Rivets (8-9).

The Mummies welcome fans to stick around postgame as the sky lights up for the first Firework Friday of the season, presented by Scarrette Pyrotechnics.

A four hour, eight minute affair came to a close just shy of 10:45 PM Thursday night, a 14-13 win for the Flying Mummies that saw the squad post their season-high in runs, and improve to 2-0 in games that enter extra innings. Richmond seemed to be on cruise control through seven innings, carrying a 10-3 lead, until Rockford took advantage of shaky pitching to hang seven runs in the eighth inning alone, the most allowed in a single frame by the Mummies this season. The teams traded blows until Richmond finally had the upper hand in the bottom of the 12th, as Peyton Bittle scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

The victory slid Richmond up to sole possession of third place in the Great Lakes East division, 1.5 games behind the Royal Oak Leprechauns and 2 away from the Kalamazoo Growlers.

The Flying Mummies’ 12 team hits Thursday set a new season-high, three of which were contributed by Prince Deboskie, who also tacked on five stolen bags, the best individual baserunning effort for Richmond so far. The positives on offense were nearly outweighed by struggles on the mound and in the field, however, as the Mummies’ rotation combined for just an 8-to-11 strikeout-to-walk ratio, while fielders committed five errors, the most in a single game this season.

Parker Bleck (0-0, 1.13 ERA) takes the mound today, another pitcher making his home debut. While only posting a small sample size of 8.0 innings pitched across two starts, Bleck has been lights-out with an 8-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio and just one earned run. On the other side is Matthew Steinberg (1-0, 4.61 ERA) making his fourth start of the year, with 13 2/3 innings under his belt and 18 Ks, but a troublesome 13 walks.

First pitch from McBride is scheduled for 6:35 PM EST, with gates opening one hour prior. Fans can purchase tickets at the gate, or online via the Richmond Flying Mummies website. A livestream is also available on FloSports.
