BORDER CATS GET FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON!
The Thunder Bay Border Cats put on a show once again in another exciting ballgame against the Bismarck Larks. The Cats came away with the 6-5 victory with Brandon Fokkema picking up the win. The win also moves the Cats to 1-3 on the year.
Colin Rosenbaum and JQ Folena came through with the big hits of the night as they each hit two-run home runs in the seventh inning. The four-run inning would prove to be the difference maker in the game as it put the Cats ahead and they never looked back. Evan Johnson pitched two solid innings with the help of a timely bases loaded double play in the eighth inning. In the ninth inning, Brady Hill recorded the save with the help of a couple great defensive plays from his teammates. Jared McCunn made a great diving catch at first base and Colin Rosenbaum made a terrific throw to McCunn to record the final out of the game.
The Cats demonstrated great poise defensively as the Larks put pressure on the pitchers and fielders. The Cats were forced to make great pitches and the defence needed to be on its toes. It’s a great sign to see a great team performance in the victory.
The Cats leave Bismarck to play their first ‘home’ game away from home in Marshall, MN as they take on the Rochester Honkers tomorrow night.
