Border Cats End Road Trip with Loss
In the Thunder Bay Border Cats final game of an eight day road trip, the Cats fell 5-1 to the Willmar Stingers. The Cats were never really in the game as the Stingers took the lead in the first inning and never let the Cats back in the game. The Cats came close in the sixth and ninth innings when they had the bases loaded but were unable to capitalize. The Stinger held onto the lead to split the two game series with the Cats.
Offensively, Colin Rosenbaum, Andy Weber, Gabe Lozada, Alex Sanchez and Brendan Dougherty had all the hits for the Cats. The Cats only run came in the fourth inning off of a single from Brendan Dougherty to score Colin Rosenbaum. On the mound, it was not Aaron George’s best night as he allowed five runs in just over four innings. Cody O’Brien came in relief and nearly pitched a perfect four innings.
The Cats now return home for a six game homestand before the All-Star break. The Cats will need a well deserving welcome home from the Port Arthur Stadium faithful as they did a tremendous job playing every day for eight days in a row and finishing with a 4-4 record. The Cats traveled all across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. There are some exciting promotions coming up at the ballpark so make sure to follow our social media platforms and visit the Border Cats website for more information.
