Wausau, WIS – The Woodchucks came into this afternoon’s game against the Lakeshore Chinooks looking to win their third straight. The Chucks took an early 1-0 lead, but the Chinooks scored six runs in the 4th and 5th innings and held on for the 7-3 victory.

 

The Chucks offense got going early as Alex Toral returned to the lineup and delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the 2nd inning.

 

The Lakeshore Chinooks had a big four-run top of the 4th inning and two-run top of the 5th inning to take a 6-1 lead. They also added one run in the top of the 7th inning to go ahead 7-1.

 

The Chucks did not go down without a fight as they scored two runs in the bottom of the 8th inning off a wild pitch and a sac fly RBI from Nick Loftin.

 

Woodchucks relievers Alex Stodola and Drew Holweger did a very nice job keeping the game within reach allowing only one run combined over 4 2/3 innings pitched.

 

 

Top Performers

 

Woodchucks centerfielder Jaren Shelby had a very productive day at the plate going 3-5 and scoring as well.

 

Chucks right fielder Zach DeLoach continued to swing the bat well going 3-4 and reaching base four times with a walk. Zach has now pushed his batting average to .345 which leads the team.
