Where are they now?

Ned Yost IV.

Baseball tends to run in the family more often than not, and that is certainly true for Ned Yost IV, son of Kansas City Royals Manager and former major league catcher, Ned Yost III.

Yost IV went to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where he played infielder. After college, in 2005, he was signed as an undrafted free agent with the Milwaukee Brewers.

During his time with the Brewers, Yost IV primarily played first baseman. He had a .268 batting average and spent three years in Milwaukee’s farm system.

After his playing career, Yost IV followed in his father’s footsteps and became an assistant coach for the Rookie League team, the Helena Brewers. Yost spent three seasons there before moving up to coach with the Brevard County Manatees, a Class A affiliate of the Brewers. He spent 2012-2016 there before once again moving up to the Triple A affiliate, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, as the third base and hitting coach in 2017.

Coming from a baseball family, it is no surprise that Yost IV has seen success in both his playing and coaching career. His father also played for the Milwaukee Brewers and coached in their minor league system before coaching in the majors. Coincidentally, his father also played a few games at Athletic Park for the Wausau Mets in 1975.

Yost IV played for the Wisconsin Woodchucks during his college career in the summer of 2003. He was a part of the second world series championship for the Woodchucks, playing alongside Ben Zobrist, Justin Berg, and Mark Lowe, and under current MLB coach Steve Foster. He played in the 2003 Northwoods League All-Star Game.

The Woodchucks are very pleased to see how Ned has used his love and knowledge of baseball to succeed in so many aspects of his life. We wish him the best as he continues his career in baseball.
