Wausau, WIS – The Wisconsin Woodchucks played at Witter Field for their first matchup against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters this season. The Woodchucks got down by 5-1 in the third inning, but came back to beat the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in the ninth inning by a score of 6-5.

 

The Rafters got off to an early lead of 1-0 in the first inning, after a home run from Jake Dunham. Wisconsin answered back with a run in the third inning, after an RBI single from Kaeber Rog. Then Rapids answered with four more runs, putting the Woodchucks behind by 5-1.

 

In the sixth inning, the Woodchucks started to fight back with a leadoff walk from Kaeber Rog and a single from Kenny Rodriguez to score two. They added two more in the seventh when Nolan Soliveres and Alejandro Gonzalez started the inning by reaching base.

 

Then, in the top of the ninth, Kaeber Rog hit a double with two outs, and eventually scored on an RBI single from Lawrence Cicileo. Nolan Lebamoff came into the ninth to close out the game, and the Chucks won their fifth game of the season, moving to a 5-2 record overall.

Kaeber Rog went 3-4 with two runs and an RBI, continuing his hot start to this season. His double started off the Chucks ninth inning rally.

 

Trey Horton pitched two and a third innings for the Chucks in his debut, not allowing a run and striking out three
