Woodchucks drop game in Wisconsin Rapids, 9-2

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI – The Woodchucks lost to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on the road, 9-2 on Wednesday night. Wisconsin couldn’t collect a sweep of the home-and-home, after beating the Rafters last night at Athletic Park.

Wisconsin collected its first run in the fifth inning on a Caleb Denny RBI double, which scored Jeissy De La Cruz. Denny was also involved in the second run for the Chucks, scoring on a Brandon Seltzer RBI Sac Fly.

Wisconsin used seven pitchers during the night, including Matt Taylor, who got the start for Wisconsin. Taylor was given a loss in the game. Wisconsin also used JD Shultz, Michael Portela, Chandler Fochs, Justin Reinkall, Jacob Curry and Jace Baumann. Fochs and Reinkall each tossed a scoreless inning of relief.

Top Performers

Caleb Denny came into the game as a substitution, but went 2-3 with a single, RBI double, and run scored.

Brandon Seltzer was 1-3 with a double, plus an RBI Sac Fly.

Chandler Fochs and Justin Reinkall each threw one inning of scoreless relief.

Next Up

The Woodchucks will begin a four-game home stand, starting tomorrow. Wisconsin will play against La Crosse on Thursday and Friday, and then Rockford on Saturday and Sunday.
