Woodchucks Win First Two Against Rockers
ASHWAUBENON, Wis. – The bats were hot as they have been lately at Capital Credit Union Park Saturday night, helping the Woodchucks to an 8-4 win.
Wausau (5-1) started their night off early, scoring three runs in the first, two in the second, and two in the third.
They would also not allow any runs to Green Bay (4-2) past the third inning, where they put up three runs.
A run was added by Wausau in the seventh to extend the three-run lead at the time to four.
Five straight wins now for the team, all by scoring six or more runs per game.
Key Moments:
Drew Berkland (Minnesota) hit the fourth Woodchuck home run this season in the third. It was a two-run shot over the wall in right field.
Austin Gomm (Parkland College (IL)) would record a couple different RBI singles Saturday night. His first came in the first inning and the second came in the seventh.
The Wausau bullpen did some great work, as after starter Isaac Crabb (LA Tech) gave up four runs, Green Bay would be held scoreless the rest of the night by Alex Breckheimer (Bryant & Stratton (WI)), Christian Clack (AL-Birmingham) and Caleb White (Eastern OK State).
Up Next:
The Woodchucks are back at Athletic Park for a two-game homestand starting Sunday against Fond du Lac. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. June 4.
