Patrick Murphy’s journey in the world of sports and communications began as a clubhouse manager and ballpark operations assistant intern with the Chucks in 2018 and 2019. During his time with the Chucks, Patrick collaborated with over 120 players and two different coaching staffs, aiming to provide the best possible experience for everyone involved. His responsibilities extended beyond the games, persisting with various tasks throughout the ballpark.

Reflecting on his internship, Patrick learned in Wausau that he had a deep appreciation for sports and wanted to continue being heavily involved in the world of collegiate athletics, Patrick also expressed his enjoyment in creating memories and building relationships within the Woodchucks organization. He particularly cherished the positive interactions with the Ford family, who treated him exceptionally well during his tenure.

After completing his college education at Missouri S&T, where he contributed to the sports information office, Patrick ventured to Daytona Beach, Florida, for an athletic communications internship. There, he worked with men’s golf, men’s soccer, and softball at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, honing his skills in graphic design.

His professional journey continued at Jacksonville University, where Patrick spent 10 months working with various sports, including volleyball, beach volleyball, women’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, softball, and soccer (both men’s and women’s), while further developing his graphic design expertise.

Following his tenure at Jacksonville University, Patrick returned to Missouri S&T, contributing to the athletic department. During that time, he achieved an impressive 7.6 million impressions department-wide on Twitter in a single year. Patrick also played a mentoring role, guiding current students pursuing careers in the sports industry.

Currently, Patrick Murphy serves as the Athletics Communications Coordinator at the Colorado School of Mines, where he remains actively involved in all aspects of communications. His responsibilities include social media management for football, basketball, baseball, softball, and more, showcasing his continued dedication to the dynamic field of sports communication that he showcased while in Wausau.
