After falling in game one of the doubleheader with Wisconsin Rapids, the Woodchucks battle from behind to beat Rapids 6-3 and improve to 20-4.

Rapids opened the game with three runs on three singles, with their bats continuing to stay hot. With a 3-0 deficit, the Woodchucks were able to bat one home in the bottom of the 1st, on a bases loaded walk to Bryce Hubbard (Georgia). Chucks trailed 3-1.

The Chucks would find two more one run innings in the  3rd and 5th, to tie the ball game. In the 3rd, it was Trey Gambill who found his first HR as Woodchuck to open the inning. The 5th saw a Logan Kreske (Wichita St. U) sacrifice fly to tie the game.

While the Chucks hitters did well at the plate, Carsen Plumadore (Georgia Southwestern St.) kept the Rafters scoreless from the 4th to the 7th, allowing just two batters to reach. Heading to the bottom half of seven, it was tied 3-3.

The Chucks added one as Bryce Hubbard scored on a fielder’s choice with the bases loaded to give the Chucks their first lead on the day. Plumadore would hand the ball off to Cutter Clawson (BYU) for the 8th.

After retiring all three batters in the 8th that saw two Clawson strikeouts, the Chucks added late game insurance runs. It was 16 straight balls from the Rafters pitching that allowed the bases loaded and Isaac Webb (Texas A&M Corpus Christi) home. Jonah St. Antione would cross home on another walk, giving the Chucks a 6-3 lead heading to the top of the ninth.

Clawson would return for a second inning of work. He found trouble with a leadoff walk but struck out three straight batters to earn his first save of the season. The win goes to Carsen Plumadore who moves to 3-0.

The Woodchucks will finish the homestand tomorrow at 6:35 as they’ll take on the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders for the first time since June 6. It is Wizardry Night at Athletic Park! Enjoy a mystical performance by the players, followed by a magical firework show following the game!
