Turf Management and Ballpark Operations Manager

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join the front office as the Turf Management and Ballpark Operations Manager. This is a seasonal position that will begin April 1st and run through August 31st, 2018. Seasonal wages available.

Turf Management and Ballpark Operations Manager Duties

This position will be responsible for performing and overseeing all aspects of field maintenance including mowing ballpark grounds, fertilizing, trimming, weed management, and irrigation to maintain a newly renovated infield playing surface for all games held at Witter Field. This includes both Rafters and non-Rafters events, such as spring high school and summer American Legion games. The ability to operate small landscape equipment such as mowers and edger and basic small engines knowledge is preferred. This individual will be responsible for preparing the field on all game days for batting practice, mowing, chalking, and dragging the infield. This position will also work with food purveyors to place and receive food & beverage orders, manage inventory, and oversee staff during spring high school season. During the summer this person will oversee the ballpark for all American Legion games at the stadium, including the management of beverage sales for those games.

For Rafters games, the ideal candidate will be comfortable working with the ticketing system, be able to place orders, assist with ticket exchanges, and help manage the box office pre-game on Rafters game days. During Rafters home games, this person will be responsible for acting as the Official Scorer and also work closely with the Pointstreak statistical program to keep accurate team stats. The candidate will be responsible for making mascot appearances for Rafters Reading Program in schools during the spring and at community events as needed. The ability to work long hours, including weekends, and as business dictates is pertinent along with managing other duties assigned by the GM.

*Turf Management experience or education in relation to athletic fields is preferred.

Director of Media Relations and Radio Broadcaster

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join the front office as the Director of Media Relations and Radio Broadcaster. This position will manage all day-to-day media relations duties and act as the traveling secretary on all road trips as well. This is a seasonal position beginning in May 2018 and ending in mid-August. Seasonal wages are available. The candidate will serve as the full-time radio broadcaster, traveling with the team during the season. The candidate will also serve as media relations liaison while also acting as the traveling secretary on all road trips with the team.
Media Relations/Radio Broadcaster Duties
*Write press releases promoting team initiatives including, daily pre-game stories, and post-game recaps for the team website.
* Coordinate and maintain press box and broadcast booths
* Compile daily stat packs for position players and pitchers
* Coordinate media requests for players, coaches, etc.
*Work closely with Field Manager and front office to make sure all player contracts and NWL requirements are met prior to players playing in games
*Coordinate all aspects of team travel including notifying restaurants, hotels, and other teams, getting team orders, room assignments, etc.
*Broadcast all 72 Northwoods League games on WFHR AM 1320, including pre- and post-game shows, during the regular season (and playoffs if necessary).
* Lead production of Daily Wave game day program insert 
* Assist in production of in-house video projects
* Ability to work long hours, including weekends, as business indicates. 
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
*Produce radio commercials for the Rafters and business partners
*Work closely with GM and Marketing Director to include all sponsor and promotional live reads each game
*Update the Rafters website daily
*Other duties as assigned by GM
