Director of Food & Beverage and Special Events 
The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are currently accepting applicants for their Director of Food & Beverage and Special Events position. Founded in 2010, the Rafters are members of the Northwoods League, a summer collegiate league played in the Midwest and host 36 home games from the end of May through mid-August. Witter Field, the home of the Rafters, has also become a destination for non-baseball events, holding a total of 18 event dates in a Covid-19 shortened year. In 2020, the Rafters were capped at holding 650 fans per game across 25 home games. In total the Rafters attracted 20,000 plus fans with zero Covid-19 cases traced back to the ballpark. This is a seasonal position, which begins April 1, 2021 and ends October 1, 2021, with potential for year-round employment within ownership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages Food and Beverage sales projections and budgets for facility events
  • Designs creative menus, analyzes recipes, and determines proper prices for items to be sold at
  • Maintains quality standard when preparing and serving food for 1,400 plus fans per game
  • Develops event work plans, including scheduling and ordering, and assigns appropriate duties to subordinates
  • Conducts safety, sanitation, and maintenance in kitchen
  • Observes staff while they prepare for events and maintains portion size and proper handling of food
  • Hires, schedules, and supervises kitchen staff
  • Assures effective orientation and training for new and returning staff
  • Greets guests and oversees Food and Beverage operations during events to ensure client satisfaction
  • Maintains cost and quality control standards
  • Monitors purchasing and receiving procedures for products and supplies to ensure proper quantity, quality, and price for all purchases
  • Analyzes information concerning facility operation such as daily food sales, patron attendance, and labor costs to maintain cost control of facility operations
  • Inspects and tastes prepared foods to maintain quality standards and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to work under limited supervision
 
Education and/or Experience    
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management, Food & Beverage Management, or Certificate and/or degree from accredited culinary school, college, or technical school or related field experience required.
  • Prior experience in a leadership Food and Beverage management level position that included financial management.
  • Experience with the control & achievement of financial results for food & beverage operation.
  • Catering management experience is preferred.
  • Proven track record of exceeding customer service and quality standards.
  • Performs all employee management functions such as interviewing, hiring, training, etc.
  • Serv-Safe Food Manager Certification or similar preferred.
  • Experience in a multi-purpose entertainment facility preferred.
  • Experience in cocktail creation/mixology for high end bars and/or restaurants preferred.
  • Familiarity with bar food and biergarten food & menus.
  • Diverse background in food and beverage industry, primarily in large banquet facility.
  • Ability to lift 100lbs.
  • Requires flexible hours including nights and weekend that vary based on events
