Battle Creek, Mich. – The Battle Creek Bombers struggled at the plate and went down early in an 8-1 loss to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in front of a sold out C.O. Brown Stadium. 

It was Carnival Night presented by Desno at the ballpark, along with Mad Chad the Chainsaw Juggler providing the in game entertainment.  C.O. Brown was filled to capacity, as the announced attendance was 2,207. 

The Bombers (14-11) went down early, as the Rapids jumped out to an early 7-0 lead through the first two innings. 

Christian Griffin (West Alabama) lasted only 1.1 innings as he allowed six runs on two hits.  Griffin would drop his record to 1-2 on the season. 

The Rapids (21-4) continued their solid play, as they still sit a top the Northwoods League standings.  They only recorded seven hits but drew six walks while having four different players drive in runs. 

Battle Creek only scratched four hits on the night, with Rapids starter Jack Eagan (Madison College) picking up his fifth win.  He lasted 6.0 innings allowing one run on four hits and struck out seven.

Alec Trela (University of Memphis) was 2-2 out of the leadoff spot for BC. 

The Bombers now sit in fourth-place in the south division standings, one game behind their next opponent the Rockford Rivets.

BC will start a four game series against Rockford, starting tomorrow at Rivets Stadium.  Games three and four will be back in Battle Creek. 

Left-hander Jared Middleton (University of West Florida) will be the probable starter for game one with Trent Johnson (Tulane University) scheduled for game two in Rockford.
