Willmar, MN- JD Kirchner was able to navigate around bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th to secure the win for the Sticks.
Our offense started the night off when Tristian Ellis scored on a double steal in the 4th inning. Starter Landon Kiefer threw a great game, going 6.0 innings, striking out five batters and only giving up one hit. Soares came in in the seventh and struck out two batters. However, he also gave up two walks and a single to Nico Senese which scored the tying run in the 7th.
TJ Spitdowski entered in the 8th and was able to lock things down, recording a strikeout. The Sticks were not able to get anything going in the inning before but in the top of the 9th, their last chance, they were able to get another run. After three walks to load the bases up, Ty Nekoliczak reaches on an error which scored the go ahead run.
The Big Sticks prevail in this pitcher’s duel by a final score of 2–1. They face the Stingers again tomorrow at 6:35 in Willmar.
