Willmar, MN- The Big Sticks lose to the Willmar Stingers 7-3 after giving up 5 runs in the 7th inning.
It was a 1-1 games up until the 7th thanks to a solo home run from Kaden Carpenter and a RBI double from Colin Hynek for the Stingers. After a quick half inning for the Sticks, Willmar decided to strike. Dylan Cortes gave up the first run of the inning after a RBI single from Brandon Gonzaga, who would end the night with two hits and a stolen base. Alex Owen came in for the Sticks hoping to shut them down. Instead, he walked in a run and a costly Ty Nekoliczak error allowed three more runs to score.
At the top of the 8th, Mason Strong would single out to left to try and start a rally for the Sticks. Three walks later, Strong would walk across home plate to gain a run back for the team. Kaden Carpenter would single out to right field for his second RBI of the night, earning him the Player of the Game. Unfortunately, the rally would be cut short after Appelwick got caught in a rundown for the final out. The Stingers would get one more run in the 8th on a wild pitch, putting the game out of reach for the Sticks.
They move onto the next stop on the road trip in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. First game is tomorrow at 6:35.
