Eau Claire, WI- The Big Stick’s rough road trip continues as they lose again to the Express 5-4.
The Big Sticks would break open the scoring in the third inning when Ty Nekoliczak stole home. In the 4th, the Express would open up their scoring for the night with a two-run homer by Dylan O’Connell. The Sticks would add on more runs in the top of the 5th. Mason Strong would blast a double, scoring two runs. In the same inning, the Express would score a run from a walked batter. They would also score again next inning from a RBI double by Colton Wemhoff. The Sticks would respond at the top of the 7th with a pinch hit at bat from Dane Jones. He would groundout to shortstop, but it scored the run that would tie the game. Sadly, George Bilecki would have the go ahead RBI single that would eventually end the game.
It was not a spectacular night for anyone in particular on the Sticks. Mitchell Mussler’s debut ended after 4.1 innings, after giving up 4 hits, 1 walk, and two earned runs. Only two of the sticks would get more than one hit today: Kaden Carpenter, who has been putting up some great numbers for the team, and Mason Strong, who seems to finally found his footing with the team this season. Quade Peters would have another stolen base to add to his column, as well as two from Kaden Carpenter. The Sticks would commit two more errors tonight, something that they have not been able to keep under control and have been a big reason for their recent troubles.
The Sticks are onto their last stop on this 6-game road trip in Duluth. They are looking to break this 3 game losing streak to a team they have already beaten twice this year and by large margins.
