Dickinson, ND- The Big Sticks lose the first game of the series 5-3 after a the Rox put up 2 runs in the 9th.
It was a pretty quiet game for the Big Sticks offensively thanks to shut down pitching from Rox pitcher Kaden Pfeffer. He would pitch 6.1 innings, striking out five and only giving up 4 hits and 1 walk. The Rox would start the scoring off in the with a Sawyer Smith RBI single into center. The score would soon be 3-0 in the 4th on an Andrew Savage 2-run homer. The Sticks would remain scoreless through 5 innings, not recording a single hit throughout. They would have a start to gain momentum in the 6th when Ellis would hit a lead off double to juice the offense up. Kaden Carpenter would continue the fun with a RBI single into right. Evan Appelwick wanted to join in so he also hit a RBI single to right.
The Sticks rolled that energy over into the 7th when Dane Jones would score on a passed ball to tie the game up. It would be a quiet 8th inning and then the game fell apart in the top of the 9th. Konner Entz would hit two batters and walk one to load the bases. Luke Doty would score on a passed ball and take the lead 4-3. They would add an insurance run on a sac fly from Kade Lewis. The Sticks were able to get a base runner on the path but could not capitalize. The Sticks are now 4-5 on the season and hope to get back to .500 at tomorrows game at 6:35
