Mankato, MN- The Big Sticks go 1-1 today and finish their road series against Mankato after having to finish their Friday game on Saturday.
In a weird turn of events, a light caught on fire at the field and caused the game to be suspended in the 6th. Before they resumed play today, the Sticks were down 11-6 thanks to two back-to-back 4 run innings by the Moon Dogs. Ryan Geraghty did have a great start today, giving up 7 hits, and 5 earned runs in only two innings. Mitchell Mussler would not even last a full inning, giving up 4 earned runs. After play resumed, the Sticks would not be able to score another run and lose 12-6. Even though the Sticks did not end up winning, there was some bright spots on the offensive side. Mason Strong had a stellar performance, with 2 hits and 2 RBIs and Evan Appelwick would have 3 hits also.
The second game went much better for the Sticks, as they would win 14-7. Despite the lopsided score, the Sticks would not do most of their scoring til later in the game. They would have a 4 run 5th inning thanks to 2 run double and stolen base from Cooper Hill and a RBI double from Jake Paczkowski. The cap on the night would be in the 8th inning when the Sticks would light up and score 7 runs. In the 8th inning alone, Bryan Garrett and Tomas Nelson combined for 5 hits, 3 walks, and 1 hit batter. The Sticks on the other hand would have a double and 4 singles. They would close out the night with a Tristian Ellis RBI single and a Zach Selfon sac fly.
The Sticks return back to the Dakota Commuinty Bank and Trust Ball Park for their series against the Minnesota Mud Puppies. Their first game is Sunday and will start at 4:35
