Dickinson, ND-  The Big Sticks were able to hold onto the 9-8 win against the Minot Hot Tots.

Both teams started off hot in the first inning. Adam Berghult would have an RBI double and two-way player Evan Dempsey followed with an RBI triple. The Sticks would match that with a Troy Berg RBI double and an Evan Appelwick sac fly. The Tots would put up a 5-run inning that was highlighted by a 3-run triple from Anthony Potestio. The Sticks would put up three runs of their own in the bottom half of that inning. Dawson Walls and Jake Paczkowski scored on a fielder’s choice with an error on 2nd baseman Jonah Shields and Adam Haber would have an RBI single.

Tyler Tobey would hit an RBI single to get within one. However, Jack Matousek would hit a sac fly to expand the lead. In the bottom of the 4th, the Tots walked in Berg for a run to bring the lead close again. Haber would tie the game up in the 5th with a double to right and Berg would take the lead with a RBI single. The Sticks would shut the Tots out for the rest of the game thanks to some great relief pitching. Braxton Greenburg was able to retire 15 of his 16 batters faced, Dylan Cortes was able to wiggle himself out a some jams, and Roman Tolbert would strikeout 4 of the 7 batters he faced.
