DICKINSON, ND- Teddy and the Badlands Big Sticks along with Buster and the Dickinson State University Baseball team partnered with Elementary Schools in the Dickinson Public Schools system to express the importance of reading for all children during the month of March, as March is National Reading Month.

Teddy and Buster accompanied by a Big Sticks player and a Blue Hawk Baseball player visited the local elementary schools throughout the last two weeks to encourage kids to read an extra 20 minutes a day, everyday throughout March. Children who complete weekly reading goals will receive a prize each week and if they read everyday in March, they will receive free Big Sticks tickets.

Each child also received a Teddy and Buster bookmark with the Big Sticks and Blue Hawk Baseball schedules on them. Any child who brings their bookmark to a DSU baseball game, will receive free admission into the game.

“Reading is such an important aspect of life and being able to encourage children to read is everyone’s job,” stated Big Sticks President, Jason Watson. “Having Teddy and Buster visit the schools was great since all of the kids love them. The Big Sticks and DSU Baseball enjoy being able to get out into the community and give back to all organizations, especially ones that involve kids.”

The Badlands Big Sticks and Dickinson State University Baseball would like to thank Dickinson Public Schools for allowing us to come visit the children and look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come.
