After dropping the lead last night and losing in extras, the Bombers got some revenge on the Bullfrogs as they went on to split the series with a win, 4-2.

Marcellus Sneed (Madison College) started on the mound for Battle Creek and was able to take home the win, going five innings of one run ball.

The offense put together some runs early, but did struggle at times throughout the game.

“Obviously we left a lot of guys in scoring position and we need to capitalize in those situations,” acting manager Rob Robinson said in the locker room.

“They just kept sticking around and were in it in the ninth,” he added. “It would be key just to get to them early.”

One Bomber did step up at the plate in his first few at bats, getting on three time and racking up an RBI.

I know I haven’t been playing consistently and I want to thank Coach Rob and Coach Jimmy (Correnti) for putting me in the line-up,” David Richards IV (Savannah State) said. “I just go out there with the mentality to give 110% and when I’m not (playing), cheer on my team.”

Besides being successful at the plate from the nine hole, Richards IV also made a running, diving catch in left field in the middle innings and a runner on.

In relief for Sneed, Battle Creek had great performances from Matt Rhodes (Hardin-Simmons) and Joe Mockbee (Michigan State).

Rhodes, who has not pitched since early June, went 1.2 innings giving up no runs and showing no rust.

Mockbee, struggling thus far on the season, entered in the seventh with the bases loaded.

There would be no such struggles tonight as Mockbee was great out of the pen, going 2.1 innings and giving up one unearned run, getting the save.

The Bombers look to get to .500 on the season as they head to Madison for a two game road trip, holding a 10-12 record. First pitch is 8:05 ET.

"That’s the new thing we are trying to do is rotate guys through. As of right now we don’t really have a set line-up or a set rotation for the bullpen. I really want all the guys to get the full experience of the Northwoods League in the summer. So we are going to start rotating guys through three days on, one day off pretty much (for position guys). And the guys who haven’t been throwing much, you know, we are going to run them out there in certain situations."
