The Southwest Michigan Thunder Hogs are more than a jersey, logo, or theme night. They are a tribute to the people, history, grit, military heritage, and baseball culture that helped shape Battle Creek and the greater Southwest Michigan region. Built from Battle Creek’s aviation legacy and inspired by the legendary A-10 Thunderbolt II, the Thunder Hogs represent toughness, resilience, and the blue-collar mentality that defines Southwest Michigan.
Why Thunder Hogs?
The name Thunder Hogs comes directly from the A-10 Thunderbolt II, better known by many as the “Warthog.” Thunder comes from Thunderbolt. Hogs comes from Warthog. Together, they create an identity rooted not in a mascot, but in Battle Creek history and one of the toughest aircraft ever built. Built to protect, endure, and complete the mission, the aircraft’s identity mirrors the character of Battle Creek and Southwest Michigan itself.
Built in Battle Creek
This story begins right here in Battle Creek. The A-10 flew here. The pilots trained here. The 110th Wing built its legacy here. This is not borrowed history, this is Battle Creek history. The Thunder Hogs honour the people, stories, and community pride that helped shape Southwest Michigan while building the next chapter of baseball at Bailey Park.

Family Sundays at MCCU Field
Sundays are built around making summer memories together. With earlier Sunday start times, it’s the perfect way for families to enjoy baseball and still be home at a reasonable hour before the week begins. Arrive early and bring your glove for pre-game catch on the field, creating unforgettable moments before first pitch. Then after the game, kids can take the field and run the bases just like their favourite players. From first catch to final lap around the bases, Family Sundays are designed to give fans of all ages a full day of fun, tradition, and time together at the ballpark.
