Alex Dunlap and CJ Saylor Heading to Kenosha this Summer
Kenosha, Wis. — The Kenosha Kingfish have announced the signing of freshman utility player Alex Dunlap from Stanford and redshirt freshman catcher CJ Saylor from San Diego State University.
Dunlap has started 20 games as a true freshman for the Cardinal and will join the Kingfish after his first year at Stanford. He has gathered 14 RBI and 33 total bases on the year and amassed a 9-game hitting streak from March 7 to March 30. Dunlap, a 6’2”, 195-pound native of The Woodlands, Texas, brings versatility to the Kingfish and can play catcher, first base and outfield.
Dunlap starred for The Woodlands High School and was named Louisville Slugger All-American second team as a senior. At the pinnacle of his prep career, Dunlap led his team to the Texas 5A State Championship his senior year.
Saylor, a 5’9”, 195-pound backstop from West Covina, California will join the Kingfish after his first season in San Diego after being redshirted due to injury his freshman year. So far, in 2014 Saylor has eight RBI in his first 33 at-bats. Saylor has appeared in 14 games this season while making eight starts.
Saylor boasts an impressive list of accolades from his time as a catcher for South Hills High School in West Covina, California. He lettered all four years while leading his team as their captain his junior and senior season. Saylor was named to the MaxPreps 2012 Top 100 Players nationwide and was a member of the Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason California Region All High School First Team.
The Kingfish will host their season opener against the Mankato MoonDogs on Saturday, May 31st at 6:05 pm at Kenosha’s historic Simmons Field.
